By accessing and using RedditRoulette ("the Service"), you accept and agree to be bound by the terms and provision of this agreement. If you do not agree to abide by the above, please do not use this service.

2. Description of Service

RedditRoulette is a web application that provides users with random posts from Reddit through public APIs. The service allows users to:

• Browse random Reddit posts from various subreddits
• Filter posts by topic and sorting method
• Save interesting posts to their personal collection (requires sign-in)
• Share posts through external links

3. User Accounts and Authentication

3.1 Google Sign-In

To access certain features (saving posts), you must sign in using your Google account. By signing in, you agree that:

• You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account
• You will not share your account credentials with others
• You will notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account

3.2 Account Information

We collect only basic profile information from your Google account (name, email, profile picture) as permitted by Google's OAuth scope. This information is used solely for account identification and service functionality.

4. Acceptable Use Policy

You agree to use RedditRoulette only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree NOT to:

• Use the service to violate any local, state, national, or international law
• Attempt to circumvent rate limiting or security measures
• Use automated tools or bots to access the service excessively
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems or other users' accounts
• Interfere with or disrupt the service or servers connected to the service
• Use the service in any way that could damage, disable, overburden, or impair the service

5. Rate Limiting and Usage Restrictions

To ensure fair usage and protect our service, we implement rate limiting:

• API Requests: Maximum 30 requests per minute
• User Actions: Maximum 10 actions per 10 seconds
• Daily Limit: Maximum 500 requests per day

Attempts to circumvent these limits may result in temporary or permanent suspension of access.

6. Content and Third-Party Services

6.1 Reddit Content

All posts and content displayed through RedditRoulette originate from Reddit. We do not create, own, or control this content. Reddit content is subject to Reddit's own Terms of Service and content policies.

6.2 Content Filtering

We automatically filter out content marked as NSFW (Not Safe For Work) and stickied moderator posts. However, we cannot guarantee that all inappropriate content will be filtered.

6.3 External Links

Our service may contain links to external websites. We are not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or terms of service of these external sites.

7. Privacy and Data Protection

Your privacy is important to us. Please review our Privacy Policy, which also governs your use of the Service, to understand our practices.

8. Intellectual Property Rights

8.1 RedditRoulette

The RedditRoulette application, including its design, code, and original features, is owned by us and protected by intellectual property laws.

8.2 Reddit Content

All Reddit posts and content remain the property of their original creators and Reddit. We do not claim ownership of any Reddit content displayed through our service.

9. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

9.1 Service Availability

We strive to maintain service availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The service may be temporarily unavailable due to:

• Maintenance and updates
• Third-party service dependencies (Reddit API, CORS proxies)
• Technical difficulties or server issues

9.2 Content Accuracy

We do not verify the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of Reddit content displayed through our service. Use of any information from Reddit posts is at your own risk.

9.3 Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, RedditRoulette and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including without limitation, loss of profits, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses.

10. Data Storage and User Content

10.1 Saved Posts

When you save posts, we store minimal information (post ID, title, permalink, subreddit, score, and save date) in our secure database. This data is:

• Accessible only to you through your authenticated account
• Stored securely using Firebase Firestore with appropriate security rules
• Deletable by you at any time through the application interface

10.2 Data Retention

We retain your saved posts data as long as your account remains active. You may delete individual saved posts or request complete account deletion at any time.

11. Termination

11.1 Termination by You

You may stop using our service at any time. To delete your account and associated data, please contact us using the information provided below.

11.2 Termination by Us

We may terminate or suspend your access to the service immediately, without prior notice, if you violate these Terms of Service or engage in behavior that we determine to be harmful to the service or other users.

12. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms of Service at any time. We will notify users of significant changes by:

• Updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page
• Displaying a notification in the application
• For material changes, providing advance notice through the application or email

Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

13. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms of Service shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United Kingdom, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any legal action or proceeding arising under these terms will be brought exclusively in the courts of the United Kingdom.
